I had a lot of fun painting this glass panel triptych called Chatter for The Hub Studio Cafe in Plymouth, WI. The idea came from the coffee shop itself. I wanted to convey the feeling of community, a meeting place, and the leisurely hours spent with friends talking. What better way to do that then to have a tree filled with birds chatting with each other.
I first sketched the idea and then enlarged the drawing to fit the size of the glass panels.
Then the fun began. The birds were the first to be painted followed by the trees and the leaves.
And finally, the finished product!
And here’s a picture of it installed with the morning sun streaming through creating a colorful shadow on the wall.
A huge shout out to Dieter Stipe of Designs by Dieter for collaborating on the metal frame for these panels.
